Arriving at Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted by your professional safari guide and transferred to the Ndutu region in southern Serengeti, famous for its dramatic calving migration. The journey to Ndutu is about 4-5 hours by road, offering views of rural Tanzania’s landscapes and scenic vistas. Upon arrival at Lake Masek Tented Lodge, check in to your luxury tented camp, where you’ll enjoy spacious and beautifully appointed tents, all with en-suite facilities and fantastic views of the surrounding area. After settling in, you’ll embark on your first afternoon game drive. Explore the southern Serengeti’s expansive plains, spotting herds of wildebeest, zebras, and other plains game as they prepare for the birthing season. Return to your lodge for a gourmet dinner and a relaxing evening under the stars.

On Day 2, after an early breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive in the Ndutu region. This is the peak of the calving season, and you’ll have the opportunity to witness thousands of wildebeest giving birth in large groups, while the predators—lions, hyenas, and cheetahs—wait for their chance to strike. The Ndutu plains are alive with the sights and sounds of newborn wildebeest, providing incredible photo opportunities. The herds are often joined by zebras and gazelles, creating a bustling and vibrant wildlife scene. Your luxury camp will prepare a picnic lunch in the bush, so you can continue exploring the area without interruption. After the afternoon game drive, return to your tented lodge for a delicious dinner, followed by a relaxing night in your tent under the African sky.

After an early breakfast at Lake Masek Tented Lodge, enjoy one more morning game drive in the Ndutu plains. This area is alive with wildlife during the calving season, and you’ll have the chance to witness more dramatic predator-prey action as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas stalk the newborn calves. After lunch at the lodge, check out and drive towards the Ngorongoro Crater. The journey to the crater takes about 2.5-3 hours. Upon arrival, check into the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, perched on the crater’s edge, offering stunning panoramic views. Spend the evening relaxing at the lodge, enjoying luxurious facilities and a gourmet dinner while overlooking one of the most breathtaking views in Africa.

The crater floor is home to a wide range of wildlife, including lions, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes, making for an unforgettable safari experience. The rich diversity of the crater’s ecosystem provides a thrilling finish to your safari adventure. After your game drive, return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast and check out. You will then be transferred back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward journey or departure, depending on your flight schedule.
